Methadone Treatment Can Be Difficult to Shake

Methadone Treatment is one of the few treatments heroin or opiate addicts can seek if they want to detox.  While it has its good points, Methadone Treatment can be difficult shake and does have some pitfalls. Because Methadone is just another type of opiate the patient has essentially just switched drugs. If that patient should want to become free of all opiate addiction they must get off of the Methadone by weaning their doses down. After doing some research on the many opiate forums it is clear that the patient will suffer withdrawals when lowering their doses for an extended period of time.

As we can see here the patient could not make it and ended up staying on the Methadone. There are many folks who do make it, but there is always a price to pay in withdrawals. There have been advances in newer medications such as Suboxone Treatment, which data has shown to work very well in getting the patient completely free from heroin. It seams that methadone can be difficult to shake if you really take a look around.
